Laura Ahmed is an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where she is a member of the data, privacy, and cybersecurity practice. Her work focuses on federal and state privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity issues. Laura advises clients at all stages of the company life cycle regarding their privacy and cybersecurity compliance obligations. She has experience designing incident response plans for multinational corporations and has counseled clients through international data breach incidents. Laura prepares privacy policies that address client’s collection, use, disclosure, and processing of information in accordance with applicable laws, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act and the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act. Laura also assists clients in responding to civil investigative demands from the Federal Trade Commission investigating clients’ privacy and information security practices.
Prior to joining the firm, Laura consulted for early-stage companies through the InSITE fellowship and worked for the Georgetown Intellectual Property and Information Policy Clinic. She was honored with the Student Advocacy Award for her work with the Internet Archive. Laura is experienced with computer programming and recently built an automated copyright alert system that monitors the U.S. Copyright and Trademark Database for one of her courses at Georgetown Law.
