Ken Siegel is an advisor in the Executive Advisory Program of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Resident in the firm’s Palo Alto office, Ken provides practical, business-savvy solutions to the legal and related business issues faced by privately and publicly held enterprises in industries ranging from enterprise software and semiconductor test equipment to high-end security products and solutions. Ken has extensive experience in wide-ranging legal matters, from corporate governance and finance matters and litigation to cybersecurity and intellectual property.
From 1986 to 2000, Ken was an attorney at Wilson Sonsini, starting as an associate and later becoming a partner in 1993. Prior to rejoining the firm as an advisor to in-house counsel, Ken served in leadership roles at numerous technology companies. Most recently, he served as executive vice president, chief legal officer, and secretary at Nuance Communications from 2016 to 2018, where he led a team of approximately 60 professionals and oversaw the company’s worldwide legal affairs, including corporate and securities transactions, litigation, intellectual property, labor and employment, commercial transactions, and privacy matters. He also counseled Nuance’s board of directors through both a CEO transition and a virtually complete board refresh.
From 2012 to 2015, Ken was vice president, general counsel, and secretary at Cyan, in which he led the company’s 2013 IPO on the New York Stock Exchange and its 2015 sale to Ciena for $480 million. Previously, he was senior vice president and general counsel at SafeNet from 2010 to 2012, handling all company legal affairs, including its IPO, complex litigation, IP, and corporate development matters. From 2000 to 2010, Ken also held executive management and general counsel roles at Verigy, Agile Software, and Efficient Networks.
