Clinton Oxford is an associate in the Washington, D.C., office of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he is a member of the firm’s privacy and cybersecurity practice.
Clinton helps clients navigate complex and emerging privacy and data security laws, including Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), biometric privacy laws, and other comprehensive and sectoral regimes governing the collection and processing of personal data. He advises on privacy and data security issues arising in the context of compliance program implementation, product development, data sharing agreements, and corporate transactions.
Clinton has represented clients in privacy, data security, advertising and other related consumer protection investigations and enforcement actions brought by the Federal Trade Commission and other federal and state regulators. He also has assisted clients in responding to congressional inquiries into privacy and advertising practices and in engaging in U.S. state privacy rulemaking efforts.
Prior to joining Wilson Sonsini, Clinton was an associate in the privacy and cybersecurity practice at another major law firm in Washington, D.C., where he counseled clients in the data broker, financial services, renewable energy, and technology industries. During law school, Clinton researched net neutrality and zero-rating issues at the Center for Democracy and Technology. Prior to law school, he worked on antitrust and consumer protection matters in the Federal Trade Commission’s Honors Paralegal Program.
