On August 13, 2024, Trove, a leader in branded resale and customer trade-in, acquired Recurate, a significant player in the branded resale market. This acquisition strengthens Trove's foothold in the growing recommerce market and underscores its commitment to making branded resale more accessible and scalable for brands. Wilson Sonsini provided legal counsel to Trove for the transaction.
With the deal, Trove will combine its resale capabilities—such as store trade-ins, digital trade-ins, returns processing, non-new inventory management, and resale site development—with Recurate’s expertise in peer-to-peer transactions, operational network, and Shopify integrations. The resulting product suite creates a “one-stop shop for brands to tailor, launch and scale profitable resale programs that best suit their needs,” according to Trove’s announcement.
Additionally, the purchase brings 29 new brand partners to Trove, including Frank & Eileen, Frye, Steve Madden, and Michael Kors, and gives Trove a 75% share of total U.S. branded resale traffic. Trove is focused on continued global expansion, especially in Europe and the UK, where it is courting new enterprise partners.
