On May 4, 2022, Google announced it acquired Raxium, an innovator in single panel MicroLED display technologies. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati represented Raxium in the transaction.
Raxium has created miniaturized, cost-effective, and energy efficient high-resolution displays that have laid the foundation for future display technologies, and its expertise in this area will play a key role in Google's hardware efforts, according to a company announcement by Rick Osterloh, Senior Vice President of Devices and Services at Google.
The Verge writes that Raxium's technology could be important for Google's expansion of augmented, virtual, and mixed reality offerings.
