On January 24, 2023, fitness-based subscription platform Strava announced that it had acquired mobile app FATMAP. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich& Rosati advised FATMAP on the transaction.
FATMAP uses 3D mapping technology to make outdoor adventures easier to discover using trail information for hikers, mountain bikers, skiers and runners. The technology will be enabled in all of Strava’s devices, offering users full access to FATMAP. The acquisition fits into Strava’s strategy to invest in best-in-class digital experiences for people with an active lifestyle. FATMAP was founded in 2013 and is based in Europe. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
