On October 27, 2020, Cognite, a global leader in industrial software innovation headquartered in Norway, announced that it has signed a partnership agreement with leading global venture capital firm Accel. Coupled with Accel’s broad network and expertise in successfully scaling software companies, the partnership enables Cognite to accelerate its global growth initiatives across industrial verticals and expand go-to-market activities and product development. Additionally, as part of the agreement, Accel is gaining a seat on Cognite’s board of directors.
According to Matthew Weigand, partner at Accel, the partnership will help Cognite define the novel software category of DataOps as the company grows and scales. DataOps is an emerging industrial software category described by industry analysts as a hub for collecting, contextualizing, and orchestrating industrial data.
Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati acted as co-counsel with Norway-based BAHR in representing Cognite in the transaction. The Wilson Sonsini team included Barry Taylor, Lianna Whittleton, and Annie Kim.
