PALO ALTO (August 15, 2024)—Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, announced today that 10 attorneys from its antitrust and competition group have been chosen for various leadership roles in the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Antitrust Law Section. These attorneys will serve as chairs, representatives, and members across multiple committees, contributing to the Section’s success. The appointments are made by the incoming Chair of the Antitrust Law Section for the 2024-2025 term.
The ABA Antitrust Law Section is one of the world’s leading communities of competition, consumer protection, and data privacy professionals providing a platform for conferences, committee programs, publications, discussion groups, and updates on developments in all facets of antitrust and consumer protection law.
The ABA appointed attorneys, and their roles are as follows:
Jamillia Ferris, co-leader of the firm’s antitrust and competition practice, has been appointed vice chair of the thought leadership task force. Ferris has held leadership positions and overseen mergers at both the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Maureen Ohlhausen, co-leader of the firm’s antitrust and competition practice, has been appointed a consumer protection officer and will also serve on the ABA Council. Ohlhausen has held the highest-ranking positions at the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), including acting chairman and commissioner. She also led key initiatives in digital commerce issues as the head of policy planning at the FTC.
Brent Snyder, who leads the firm’s regulatory and compliance department, has been appointed chair of the Programs Committee. Snyder is the former DOJ acting assistant attorney general for antitrust during the transition between the Obama and Trump administrations. He also served as the DOJ’s highest-ranking antitrust criminal enforcement attorney, having been deputy assistant attorney general for criminal enforcement at the Antitrust Division from 2013 to 2017.
Ken O’Rourke, a partner, has been appointed co-chair of the Intellectual Property Committee and co-chair of a task force developing an antitrust litigation guidebook for district judges. With more than 30 years of experience, O’Rourke has represented clients in multi-forum litigation, class actions, high-stakes cases, mergers and acquisitions disputes, and significant antitrust and intellectual property matters, including several international cases.
Brendan Coffman, a partner, has been appointed vice chair of both U.S. Comments and Policy and Podcasts. Coffman advises some of the world’s most innovative companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, government investigations, private litigation, and distribution practices.
Taylor Owings, a partner, has been appointed vice chair of the Federal Civil Enforcement Committee and co-chair of the Fall Forum. Previously, as counsel and chief of staff in the Antitrust Division of the DOJ, Owings represented the United States in the first significant monopolization challenge and the first major vertical merger challenge in decades.
Robin Crauthers, senior counsel at the firm, has been appointed vice chair of the Janet D. Steiger Fellowship Project. Prior to joining the firm, Crauthers served as a trial attorney in the DOJ Antitrust Division’s Media, Entertainment, and Professional Services section, where she led matters related to the broadcast, ticketing, and professional services industries.
Lindsey Edwards has been appointed vice chair of the Economics Committee. As an associate at the firm, Edwards handles a range of civil and criminal antitrust matters, including litigation, government investigations, and mergers and acquisitions.
Amara Conteh has been named editor of the Health Care and Pharmaceuticals Committee’s Health Care Antitrust Week-In-Review. Conteh, also an associate at the firm, focuses on various antitrust issues, including civil and criminal litigation, merger reviews, and government investigations.
Jonathan Jacobson, who recently retired as senior of counsel from the firm, has been appointed vice chair of the Comments Committee. During his distinguished career, Jacobson was appointed by Congress to the Antitrust Modernization Commission, served as chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of Antitrust Law, and led numerous high-profile antitrust litigations, investigations, trials, and appeals.
