On March 14, 2018, Skilljar, an innovative training platform that enables businesses to provide scalable and effective customer education, announced that it has raised $16.4 million in a Series A round of financing from new investors Mayfield and Shasta Ventures, with participation from existing investor Trilogy Equity Partners. Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati represented Skilljar in the transaction.
Founded by Amazon veterans Sandi Lin and Jason Stewart, Skilljar tripled its customers in 2016 and 2017, primarily through word-of-mouth marketing. As a result, Skilljar is in a strong position to lead the customer training market, which is estimated to be worth $12 billion. Prior to the company's name change and transformation to its present business model, Skilljar graduated from TechStars Seattle as Everpath. Since its inception in 2013, the start-up has partnered with businesses across multiple industries and geographies—from U-Haul and Latin American marketplace leader Mercado Libre to technology innovators MapR and Zendesk.
The Wilson Sonsini team that represented Skilljar in the transaction included David Wickwire and Adam Shevell.
