Join Asia Society Northern California on Thursday, November 19 for a panel discussion with Stephen Heifetz, partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and Melissa Mannino, Of Counsel at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati on updates on CFIUS and the Review of Foreign Investment in the U.S. from China and the new controls on export of US technology to China and Hong Kong.
Final rule changes that became effective on October 15 complete a two-year process of implementing CFIUS reform legislation. The export control changes include increased export license requirements and expanded controls on certain foreign produced products that are sold, reexported, or otherwise transferred to Huawei and other companies in China. The discussion will address these now final rules, including the substantial interplay of CFIUS and export controls, as well as the effect of the political environment and how the post-election environment might affect CFIUS and its reviews of Chinese investments.
