Doug Carsten Honored Among Daily Journal's "Top Intellectual Property Lawyers 2019" in California

On April 17, 2019, the Daily Journal named WSGR partner Doug Carsten to its 2019 list of the "Top Intellectual Property Lawyers" in California. The publication created the annual list of the state's leading patent, trademark, and copyright lawyers after reviewing nominations from members of the legal community and its own editors and reporters.

In the accompanying profile, Doug was recognized for scoring several large wins for clients the past year, including two in consecutive months. Specifically, in December 2018, Doug and his WSGR team received a victory on behalf of client Mylan Pharmaceuticals in which the Patent and Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) invalidated patents held by Sonofi-Aventis for a long-acting insulin glargine vial product, "freeing up insulin formulations for treatment of diabetes that would have otherwise expired in 2023 at the earliest." A month later, he and his team also won a patent term adjustment for the oral pulmonary hypertension drug, Orenitram, on behalf of clients United Therapeutics and Supernus Pharmaceutics in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
